in the morning at 9.30 me, t. jessie and bokap catch a cab and went to MBK (Mahboonkrong for those not in the know.) lots of stores haven’t been opened yet. but we started our hunt for items to buy for souvenirs or just for ourselves.
MBK is a very large shopping center that’s kind of mixed between whole-sale-ness like ITCs in Jakarta, and dedicated stores like Ratu Plaza. i had my strategy of just browsing for items, not rushing to buy things because my stay here in Bangkok is still up until Jan the 7th. so I have the chance to come back here again after serious considerations.
Hmm, Nunu was not lying. Most (not to mention all) of the girls here in Bangkok are very pretty. had it very close with this girl selling software DVD, but it’s a matter of miscommunication and culture shock, it didn’t work. not to mention I was exhausted following my parents around. they have to get the items they need, I don’t.
at around 2 we had lunch at MBK food center on 6th(?) floor. it has the coupon POS system, exchange money to coupons, buy what you want with coupons, then after you ready to leave you refund the remaining coupons into bahts. i had a nice big bowl of combination beef soup, the contents range from meatballs to beef’s intestines. but it’s so fresh and clear. my dad had a duck with rice, and t. jessie had durian with sticky rice. for drinks, the infamous green tea.
after lunch we splitted. the rest of my exploring, mostly i sat down for obvious reason. tired. and had too much information, much more than i need. i also managed to buy apple dvd-rom of lynda.com’s motion lessons, and spent my time around until i can get the DVD. but nice girl selling, i don’t mind.
eventually i bumped into my parents again. after she’s lost, and he’s lost, then after we’re with each other again, we went to bonanza plaza, part of siam square, crossing through the connectiong bridge. here i started to get bored, so me and my father got out of this claustrophobic place, and breathed fresh air, sitting on the sidewalk bench on siam square. bought ourselves a green tea.
then monica joined us, while we reconvene, there’s a thai boy band in this juice joint. lots of fans swarming and taking photos. me too, taking photos, but not out of fandom. then we went back to *oh no not again* bonanza, bought the wholesale earring. then crossed again to MBK, and rested at this Gateaux House. while observing at this nice university student taking or reading notes, i sipped my iced tea with milk. then we went home by taxi, and got ripped off because the driver don’t want to use the meter.
at eight we went to Silom Village (took a glimpse of soi cowboy, the so-called-re-district-area, one of them.) Silom Village is a Thai restaurant, Sony usually takes guests here. we had black pepper crab, kangkung ca, tom yam koong, sweet sour fried fish. yum. for desert we order a mango with sticky rice.
after that, we went to pat pong, just for the stroll and the sake of being in bangkok. we parked across the main gate to the infamous joint. we bought wholesale t-shirt first in the parking lot. then we took a one-time stroll street, taking a glimps of bars and clubs, with women in bikinis dancing on the table top holding on to a pole. the ones you could expect in this kinda places.
then, we went to peninsula for some more photo session with the spirit of christmas. bought me a pair of horns with lamps for B50, for new year eve, ehm… for this photo session. there’s a shooting of thai movie here in the sidewalk of the foure seasons. on this lovely opportunity I have photograph taken with me and this young beautiful starlet. hoohah! regret that i didn’t strike a decent conversation, just the khawp kun lame phrase. jerk!
