We in Jakarta and all in WIB time zone just welcomed the new year 2013. The heart of Jakarta’s new year festivities is the 1st Jakarta Night Festival, as the newly elect Governor Joko Widodo turns the whole strip of avenue from Jend. Sudirman to M.H. Thamrin into a car free night. Continue reading “Happy New Year From The Heart of Jakarta Night Festival”

I like this song “Morning Star” by Lala Karmela (@LalaKarmela,) and might include this song in my project. 🙂 #nomention Continue reading “Lala Karmela’s Morning Star”
This is an open letter. This might be the end of #NoMention (maaf masih dalam bahasa Inggris, nanti akan diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Sementara ini bisa pakai Google Translate.)
As it was first started, the idea of #NoMention was conceived as a private communication between me and another Twitter user. And from that occurrence I had developed an idea for a startup company, whilst our communication developed and I had an idea to record my experience to be retold in other art form: a novel, later on a movie, and also other art forms. At first I thought it was a great (REAL) story about two people connecting via social media/internet (making it a great storyline base for Happinette,) unbeknownst to me that I opened the Pandora box of my own personal passion in my own pursuit of happiness. On the surface it seems to be about my hard work on my startup; and maybe in parallel looking for a spouse; while underneath I am in a hunt of finding the true meaning of happiness. It was all real life experiences: no gimmick nor PR thingy whatsoever. You can check with me directly about the reality of things. Continue reading “An Open Letter #NoMention”
I haven’t read the novel “Life of Pi” yet; it’s published in 2001 by Yann Martel; so I am sticking to the storytelling in the art form of movie. Spoiler follows so if you haven’t seen the movie you might find what follows would spoil your movie experience. Go see the 3D screening by all means, it helps tell the story.
“Life of Pi” follows the adventure of an Indian boy during his cast away in the sea, when the whole family migrated from Pondicherry (India) to Winnipeg (Canada) and the Japanese cargo vessel was sink by the storm. The beginning of the movie was introduction to the character Pi (or Piscine Molitor Patel, who got his name from a public French swimming pool but found himself mocked by his school friends.) It was told by a grown up Pi telling his story to an author, told in flashbacks. He then consoled himself and introduced himself as Pi for short, derived from Pi, the 16th Greek alphabet which is also a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It might sounds irrelevant to the story, but it’s not. Continue reading “Life of Pi: Movie Review”
Happiness has been a thing people take for granted. It was never something that people confess that they really need. Maybe it is a bad label to be unhappy.
My realization of me needing happiness began from that one period of time I interacted with somebody in Twitter, and occurrences that follows was overwhelming. At first I thought that we can spread happiness in social media, thus inspired me to be a founder of Happinette. It has been quite a while now, and all along the things that happened in my interaction with her (and with everybody else) I came to realized that it’s not just that (we can share happiness on social media or whatever medium), but also that I AM in my own pursuit of happiness. Like the Will Smith character was doing in The Pursuit of Happyness. My current personal life (which I can not explain here) is not that great, and this is a real life personal struggle of me settling down and find the true meaning of happiness.
Continue reading “Selama Ini, Apakah Sebenarnya #NoMention?”
When Coldplay has set plan to screen a one-night-only presentation of their live DVD simply titled “Coldplay Live 2012” in theaters worldwide, I was stoked because that might be the closest chance I get to see Coldplay ‘Live.’ It was not the first time a band set up a worldwide screening, Pearl Jam has done it on September 20, 2011 with PJ20. We had the pleasure organizing it in Jakarta. While Pearl Jam was a documentary about the band, Coldplay is a live concert taken from several venues of its Mylo Xyloto World Tour 2012, alongside with inserts of band commentary of behind the scene and tour production story.
The movie opens straight up with intro instrumental song “Mylo Xyloto” continued with “Hurts Like Heaven” just like in the record. Chris Martin in his usual jerking gesture, Will Champion bashing drums, Johnny Buckland riffing on his guitar, and Guy Berrymen strumming the bass strings.Continued with an old number “In My Place.” Continue reading “We’d Be Glowing In The Dark! “Coldplay Live 2012” Cinematic Experience”
I had high expectation with Skyfall. It commemorates 50 years of James Bond (Dr. No, the first James Bond movie was premiered on October 5, 1962,) Skyfall must have be a cultural milestone to it all. At first watch I didn’t like it immediately. Disclaimer: long pause since I saw the movie and actually writing review about it might have parts in it.
I went to watch the new James Bond movie Skyfall last Thursday, and it was under my expectation. Then I watched this ‘The Story behind 007’ kinda movie titled “Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007,” I might change my review of Skyfall. Thus I review this ‘documentary’ movie which; with Skyfall; commemorates 50th years James Bond Anniversary.
